Night lagoon walk: the secrets of the ocean bed.
When the low tide falls after dark, the sea withdraws for kilometres and reveals the ocean floor. With torches in hand you walk out onto ground that was under water hours earlier, and meet the creatures living there.

What happens on the walk
We meet at your hotel once the tide has started to drop and walk out together from the beach. Within minutes the sand gives way to the reef flat — a living landscape of seagrass meadows, coral rubble, channels and shallow warm pools that only exists for a few hours each month.
Yasir walks ahead with the torch, stops at each pool, and explains what lives there: hermit and swimming crabs, sea stars in orange and blue, spiny sea urchins, sea cucumbers, octopus hiding under ledges, and the small fish that wait out the tide. Children usually lead the hunt within the first ten minutes.
Nothing is collected and nothing is taken home. Animals are looked at, photographed and left exactly where they were found, which is the only way this stretch of reef stays worth visiting.

- When does the night lagoon walk take place?
- Only on evenings when the low tide falls after dark. Spring tides around the new and full moon pull the water furthest out, so the exact dates change every month. Send your travel dates and Yasir will tell you which evenings work.
- Is it suitable for children?
- Yes, it is one of the easiest experiences on the island for children, as long as they wear closed shoes and stay with the group. The walking is flat and slow.
- What will we see?
- Commonly crabs, sea stars, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, small fish trapped in pools, shells and seagrass life. Marine life moves freely, so nothing can be guaranteed on a given night.
